Long live the canned tuna

When we don't know what to make for dinner, we aren't in the mood or we have no time, usually we make pasta with tomato sauce or we open a tuna can. But there is nothing sadder than sitting on a table looking at a tuna can. Well, it could be worse: to be sit looking at a sardine can.

Today, we´re going to change this, we´re going to transform the tuna can sadness in happyness, we´re going to give colour to it and we´re going to make several easy recipes with a tuna can.

Tuna Poke

Instagram has plenty of pictures of this hawaiian fish salad, last gastronomic trend, but I think it is nothing like the original one. Nevertheless, it´s very tasty and is a very healthy dish. It usually has some kind of cereal, usually rice, vegetables, algaes, nuts and fish, althoght we can make it with chicken or turkey.

The Poke of the picture has rice, a tuna can, sweet corn, cherry tomatoes, some arugula,  few  hazelnut, red onion and avocado. You can season it with regular salad sauce, with soya sauce or whatever sauce you like. ANYTHING BUT KETCHUP!

Rice Salad

We usually make this recipe on Sunday, when we aren't in the mood of cooking. It is not rocket science and it´s very tasty. Cook the rice in plenty of salted water, drain it and let it be cold. Add a tuna can, sweet corn and olives, season it and that is all!

Tuna Burgers

Tuna burgers are a little bit more complicated and you have to use the stove and a fry pan, but it´s not that big of a deal. We'll need the next ingredients:

. A tuna can well wrung

. One egg

. Rice or boiled potatoes or chic pea flour or breadcrumbs.

. Chopped garlic

. Chopped onion

. Chopped parsley

. Salt ( not too much, the ingredients have salt)

. Black pepper

. A squeeze of lemon

Blend  the ingredients in a bowll to obtain a thick paste.

Form hamburgers with your greased hands and fry them in a pan with olive oil. When they are ready put them on a kitchen paper to eliminate the excess fat. Serve with a green salad or potato chips or both of them.

Pasta with tuna and tomatoes

The last recipe mix the tuna can with the pasta with tomato sauce. You can find it in this very blog in the next link.
